Any tips for a sore ear

Got home at 6pm with my son from swimming. By 1830 he was complaining of a sore ear. He's been up and down complaining of it and not yet sleeping.
I've gave him his full dose of Calpol. Hot water bottle for his ear. He's hand his finger in it to give it a wiggle incase it's water but anything else I can try?

You could try a twist of loo roll gently put to his ear & wiggled. Sometimes it’s enough to catch the edge of any water & soak it up

DD suffers from swimmers ear, she has a spray for it that helps massively.

Aw your poor DS.
The good old heated up salt in sock? Keeps heat very well so should give him some relief and some people swear it also draws any moisture/water out the ear (not sure about that).
Hope he feels better soon.

Hot water bottle on ear will help, alternatively an ice pack and lying on the affected ear to allow water to drain.
Earache is awful poor thing. He might need antibiotics if there are signs of an infection tomorrow. (continued pain, dizziness, any loss of hearing or feeling feverish).

@Pippapotomus I haven't heard of swimmers ear so I'll go and look it up.
I hope he'll settle soon. Fingers crossed tomorrow is better. Thanks for the tips
