Alexa for dummies instructions please?

I was under the impression I could ask Alexa to "play x tv show" but I tried to do it last night and apparently not, apparently you have to do something in setting up Alexa app so it can do this but I'm not sure I understand exactly how to do this.

Any tips and tricks?

Would also like to be able to ask Alexa to play certain radio stations and to set a timer as I want to work out how long it takes me to do certain tasks.

I've only very recently got the echo dot so still very much learning how it works, took calling amazon and then taking me slowly through various steps just to get it working as a speaker!

Thought it'd be easier than this

Is your tv compatable? Google it (not be rude but you need to teach them to talk to each other!) It depends on telly and if you need to install any updates etc

Its via fire tablet I'm trying to work it so it should be compatible as same company?

Sorry I've taken so long to come back to this.

I'm afraid that article doesn't help reallybadidea as it's relating to actual TVs when I'm trying to operate via fire tablet.

Today I asked Alexa to set a reminder for me as a test/experiment, it confirmed reminder set I'm waiting to see if it works.

I'd also like to ask Alexa to play a particular radio station and not sure how to do that either.

If you open the app it should give you options of things to install such as Spotify etc. And your firestick I thing should be in the my devices section

Not fire stick fire tablet I shall have to take some time to play around with it I think but you'd think amazon would have easy to find clear instructions on their site for products which are theirs.

Oh I have a fire tablet! Comes up under devices - go the tab on the apps and click echo and alexa or something like that on the top left hand corner. It should be there

Yeah if they are set up with the same account it should just be there
