Who is proper struggling waking and getting up in the dark mornings and finding dark evenings a struggle? It also seems very dark to how I think it should be!

Me. I always do. I think I was meant to hibernate. The countdown has begun to the shortest day thankfully that keeps me going.

I don't mind the dark nights so much but I hate the dark mornings.

On the plus side though, the shortest day is on the 22nd and then it slowly starts getting lighter again! So we're almost there.

It’s deffo the mornings I’m struggling with most though too. It doesn’t seem to be proper daylight until 9am.

It's hard, but it is the same every year!

Nonstopbuttmachine · 05/12/2019 16:44

This is one of the reasons I moved abroad; I found it harder to cope with than the rain and cold. Where I live now it's light at 6.30am and dark at 5pm but I feel cheated in the summer months as it's dark at 8.30pm.

I get really confused when I visit my parents in the UK at Christmas and it's pitch black at 8am Grin

ShinyGiratina · 05/12/2019 17:33

Since September, I'd got in a really good routine of getting up a little earlier to do some yoga, but the clock change got my body clock out of synch against my alarm and it's got harder and harder by the week now it feels like the middle of the night.

Having a few clear days this week has really shown up how dark and gloomy the majority of days have been for months.

HarrietTheFly · 05/12/2019 17:36

I'm sleeping so much as I do every winter. I hate it but literally cannot stay awake in this weather. I keep falling asleep on the train. I feel permanently groggy and tired and it's making me miserable. I can't wait for spring.

Me too, feel like I’m living underground

Sherloidbaisherloid · 05/12/2019 18:20

I struggle more with the darker evenings. Don’t mind so much the mornings, by the time I’m up and ready to go it’s light but I hate coming out of work before dinner time and it’s pitch black. Also counting down the days till the winter solstice. I was googling the other day to see how many minutes it gets lighter every evening after the shortest day, can’t come quick enough!

Bunnylady53 · 05/12/2019 18:25

I hate it! Think we should have double summer time

andpancakesforbreakfast · 05/12/2019 18:27

I hate it. The kids could have painted the lawn in bright glittery pink and I wouldn't even know. It's depressing. And it's flipping cold.

Even the snow would be welcome, at least nights wouldn't be so dark!

DragonontheWagon · 05/12/2019 18:27

I leave home and arrive home in the dark. I only really see daylight in my days off.

I too am on countdown to the solstice and it starts to reverse.

BalloonDinosaur · 05/12/2019 18:32

It seems to be hitting me harder this year. Especially working night shifts, seem to only get an hour or so of daylight (and what I do see if generally grey and miserable) between waking up and going to work. Hate it!

Afternooninthepark · 05/12/2019 18:36

Yep, I really struggle too. It never used to bother me but now I am in my mid 40’s I really struggling with everything do with winter. I long for the light evenings, not to bothered about the heat but longer, warm, sunny days are the days that make me happy. Not long till the 21st of December and the nights will start pulling out, can’t wait.
