Good book for expectant fathers?

So DH and I are planning to start trying for a child in the new year, so I thought it'd make a nice little Christmas present if I picked up some sort of a book about babies/ pregancy/fatherhood/I'm not sure what else, and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

He's a great and very practical/scientific guy who likes to understand things in depth so something more factual than emotional would be the way I'd likely lean. We've had almost zero contact with babies as we're the eldest child in our respective families so back to basics isn't necessarily an issue either.

Thanks in advance!

Get him What Mothers Do - it's really good, and is quite factual and analytical about things. Don't let the title fool you - it's definitely a useful book to read as the person who didn't give birth. It's a lot about the ways having a baby makes you feel and the things that you might not manage to communicate about while you're in that blurry, sleep-deprived post-baby stage. I think it is one of the things that really saved my relationship with my DP.

Ah thank you! Haven't heard of it; I'll have a look up - glad you found it so useful!

It's not fatherhood-specific but Expecting Better is data-driven, which sounds like it might appeal, even though the main focus is on pregnancy.

I bought my DH "Dads guide to pregnancy for dummies" and it was really useful, talked through each stage of pregnancy and scans etc. I actually found it quite useful too!

Great book.

Husband bought himself commando dad when he found out I was pregnant. It's useful and funny as hell. Def great for guys.

Cribsheet by Emily Oster, if he's the kind of guy who's into data, it's quite a reassuring counterpoint to the 'you must do it this way or you'll screw them up' kind of books.

Thoroughly recommended:

for both mum and dad.

Commando Dad is great. My DH read it in a day just before I gave birth and was able to tell ME things!

My reading-averse DP has actually thoroughly enjoyed this book:

Not sure if I have made that clicky, sorry!

And I have read it too and found it fab!
