Christmas Party for One

So I work for myself alone.

I know many think they’re the work of the devil but I miss work Christmas parties. Dh is having his this Friday and am thinking of having my own mini Christmas party on Friday night. Basically just me and the dog!

Thinking maybe some music, followed by a Christmas film and some sort of “party food”.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do/eat/watch - or is there a better option etc. Feeling very left out this year Sad

Baked Camembert, carrot sticks, fresh bread and chutney.

Is there a friend you could go out with?

@pig this is the thing - everyone’s out enjoying their Christmas parties

Cheese is a good idea - there’s a fancy cheese shop fairly close so may treat myself (if it really is my “party” at least it’s tax deductible 😂

Book a table at the local pub and take your DH, both have the Christmas menu. Go for cocktails after. Partners can sometimes go to Christmas parties so it’s not a date as such. Wear Christmas jumpers, festive dress or go with a theme. Yes your DH will get two parties but that happens sometimes. My work invite partners and DH’s doesn’t. Last year they were at the same place a week apart, so he just went twice. His work put on more booze though so naturally he preferred his.

Can I come Grin

Don't forget something good to drink. The more expensive Lidl prosecco is lovely (€11.99 not €8.99 here in IE), or a half bottle of good wine to properly enjoy (or even a full bottle if you think DH would like the half glass you keep for his return)…

Are there any others in your "network" that are solo as well and who would enjoy going for a communal drink in the spirit of a Christmas party without going full on "party until 4am and snog everyone before you go" style?

Or even meeting up for a coffee and mince pies morning if evenings don't work.

Do you know any other self employed people OP? A friend of mine does the self employed party every year.

It started with three of them and now about 25 of them go to a restaurant for their Christmas 'do'.

Yours sounds lovely though!

I think I’ve missed the boat for setting up a self employed one, but will definitely try to do that next year.
