I made my Christmas cake a few weeks ago and have been feeding it brandy since.
Now what do I do with the thing? When do I put marzipan on it? Do I have to wait for it to dry before I ice it? Fondant or Royal Icing (I'm thinking Royal)? Should I put a wee touch of glycerine in the icing so that no one breaks their teeth? 
It's all terribly complicated ...
