(Lighthearted) if you disappeared tomorrow...

I listen to a lot of true crime things and I always wonder, when they are picking through people's lives days/weeks before they disappeared and all the out of the ordinary things they've done, what is actually relevant and what is just a coincidence

So if you disappeared tomorrow, what odd out of character thing have you done that would be mentioned on your true crime discussion?

Mine: (shit example) I left the house at about 2am the other night to drive 30 mins to a 24 hour shop to get petrol and a book, no reason other than I couldn't sleep and thought I may as well 🤷🏻‍♀️ had I disappear at some point in that journey or a few days later I imagine there would have been a lot of speculation as to why I would just up and leave my house at 2am!

Nothing major for me, but they might find out that I’ve been especially fed up with work this week, and it’s been a particularly stressful month at home. I’m sure they’d find out that I’ve upped my credit card limit without any apparent need to (I’m nowhere near the limit).
If they searched my internet history over the past 3 weeks they’d find I’d searched ‘how to make ricin at home’ (or similar)...

Kitkatforchristmasdinner · 04/12/2019 15:43

Just had a massive fall out with MIL so hopefully she would be hauled in for questioning. Kids would add flavour by saying "nanny upset mummy and daddy had to come home from work early"!

MrsExpo · 04/12/2019 15:54

Today, I randomly took my dog for a 20 minute walk round a park i've never been in before, took two pictures of trees, then got in my car and drove away.

(Was killing half an hour while DH went to a physio appointment - but who would know that ..... ?)

sandandc · 04/12/2019 16:05

Love the thread.
I've just moved back to the UK from somewhere warm and Christmas not openly celebrated. I'm happy to have rejoined my family after months apart but I have been moaning about the cold and the Christmas tat in shops. So they'll just cotact friends in former home..thinking I've escaped to the sun..

rhubarbcrumbles · 04/12/2019 16:09

They'd struggle to find me because there are no photos of me unless they got hold of my passport/driving licence photo and I'd have those with me if I chose to disappear.

ShootTheRunner · 04/12/2019 16:09

I have a screwdriver in my bag which is very out of character. Perfectly mundane reason - I needed to open the battery compartment of the fairy lights for Santa's Grotto at school!

VenusClapTrap · 04/12/2019 16:15

Well I have effectively disappeared from circulation as I’m in hospital with something viral that’s probably meningitis.

Shortly before my disappearance, I may have been sighted in the passenger seat of my car being driven by Dh. As Dh is a horrible driver, and everyone knows this, as well as the fact that I never, ever let him drive me anywhere, he will clearly have been marked as driving my corpse away to the woods or somewhere.

Outsomnia · 04/12/2019 16:23

The search would start with "Outsomnia has now been missing for two days and police and her family are very concerned"

It would end with, " a search of her house revealed that not much housework has been done for some considerable time, so the suspicion is she has disappeared for longer than two days"

Nope, I'm a total slob.

Pippapotomus · 04/12/2019 16:29

I would be seen on cctv in Home Bargains buying cable ties and plastic sheeting.

Up to something dodgy or weather proofing a rabbit run?

Kelsoooo · 04/12/2019 16:35

Oooooohhhh this is fun.

My days are always random. I work in a field based role so they'd plot my day and be like "there was no reason for her to take that route." (Boss would probably question how many right turns I'd avoided)

My colleague would say, I'd cut our conversation suddenly and never rang back like promised.

DH would say, I've been increasingly emotional.

Eldest DD would say "she threw her headphones on the table then stormed off" (true)

Youngest DD would say, "she didn't have her coffee. She always has her coffee. Bit it got cold and she just left the mug" bizarrely, that's the only out of the norm thing.

slalomsuki · 04/12/2019 16:44

There was a guy I worked with who left. His office and his desk just looked like he had nipped to the toilet with half finished cup of coffee, notes on a pad with a pen left on top and a book left open with post it markers. It took people ages to go in to clear his office as they weren't even sure what had happened. He had just resigned, worked his notice up to the end and finished when he did. I've vowed to do something similar when the time comes.

DancingPyjamas · 04/12/2019 16:48

Mine would read.......
Last known sighting was of her sat in her car in Gregg's car park stuffing her face with mince pies and coffee Blush
In my defence I was hungry and it's the only way I can eat them in peace without the hound pestering me.

ChampagneCommunist · 04/12/2019 16:55

Depends if I left my phone. If I did, police would discover that I'm not always where I say I am.

Dustarr73 · 04/12/2019 17:04

It would end with, " a search of her house revealed that not much housework has been done for some considerable time, so the suspicion is she has disappeared for longer than two days"
@Outsomnia are you me?

Mine would be ,i went out in a strange car yesterday.

But i live a very boring life,i would probably only be missed when the kids come home from school.

FenellaMaxwell · 04/12/2019 17:06

She didn’t pick up her son from nursery, and was seen getting into a car with a strange man late in the evening.

He’s at my DM’s overnight as I have a driving lesson at 8pm Grin
