Do you have a 'no cold callers' sign?

Every night it seems like we have charities knocking on the door.
Does anyone have a sign and does it stop charities and Jehovah's calling round?

I've just bought one as they always call at the most inconvenient nap time. Got a slate one from etsy.

I’ve recently bought one as we seemed to have lots of people selling things all of a sudden - conservatories, AstroTurf, veg and meal boxes etc. I didn’t buy the sticker that said No Jehovahs Witnesses, deliberately, as I think they’re only doing what they have to, and I try to be ‘live and let live’ with peoples beliefs, (although they might see my sticker from the bottom of my path, and be put off anyway) but I hate people trying to sell to me or take my bank details for charity.

Anyway, the sticker has been up about a month, and I haven’t had any cold callers since.

I have a switch on my doorbell so I can turn it off. I don't know about signs, but that works!

Yes. I've got a small sticker on the door. There is a JW hall around the corner from us and they come to our close regularly.
But they don't knock when they see the sign.

No. cos I love ranting at them about my opinion on bringing back public torture in Trafalgar square. I don't shut up until they fuck off! I don't believe in public torture BTW. I just get a giggle from winding them up.

I've got one and it does stop cold callers but not those bloody plastic charity bags.

I've got one and I point to it every time a cold caller calls. They all say they didn't see it. It's bright yellow.

Yes and people still knock. I can't see who it is until I open the door and it's so frustrating.

I have one and the JH come to the door, look at it and leave. Some charity knockers used to try it on "I didn't see it" but I shut the door and they don't bother now.
Had a Nottingham knocker with it though, scary.

Mine has reduced cold calling incidences by about 60%, which I consider a good return on my £2 investment.

I do still get the odd one claiming they didn't see it, or, on one memorable occasion, claiming they can't read (while holding sheafs of printed leaflets they then referred to).

The way I see it, I've done my best to let them know what my general attitude to the whole business is, so they can't complain if they get the door shut in their faces when they choose to ignore it. Saves messing.

I've not had any cold callers while in current home, and ivd been here a year. So no sticker yet but will get one if we do start getting callers.

I think the reason is that our cul de sac is convenient for town but not conveniently next to other residential streets, so we get missed.

We have a sign. JWs still call round, but we're rural and it's very infrequent, they aren't a nuisance and they are polite so I don't bother about it. You can ring the Kingdom Hall and have your house blacklisted.

We do still get the odd window seller and the like but less than we used to.

It is. It always is.

I've had one for about three years now and yes, definitely noticed a difference when I put it up! Used to get religious groups at least weekly and all manner of charities, Gousto subscription sellers and all sorts. Sometimes I now see someone walking up to the door, read it, and walk away, others note it from a distance and don't even open the gate. I still get the very occasional cold caller and when that happens, tend to point at the sign and say did you read that as I close the door...

We have found it hasn't helped. Especially with JW. They are relentless near us and a sign doesn't stop them knocking

I got a sticker off Ebay for a couple of quid.

We live next to a main road so were getting loads. Always at the most inconvenient time.

We have one and it does stop cold callers. Think ours is only designed to stop doorstop sellers though, not cavassers, so we do get JW's and politicians unfortunately. Having said that, DP told the JWs he wasn't interested before and now we see them walking around with a clipboard and avoiding our house, so I suspect we're on a "do not knock" list. He was perfectly polite too!

I live in a block. If anyone unannounced knocks on the door they get ‘who the hell let you in?’ (Obviously not the postman or a deliverey). We’ve had some very suspect people around here...

I'm going to order one....we'll see if it makes any difference!
