I’m hoping one of you wise Mumsnetters can help me after the wisdom of the Amazon Dot thread a few days ago!
I’ve had a Google Home Mini for a couple of years now, and recently decided to try out the smart lightbulbs. Due to me being an idiot and not reading up on them, I bought the lightbulb, screwed it in and automatically thought it would connect to the Home Mini and I could control them. How wrong I was!
Then I read about needing either a Hue Bridge or a Dimmer switch, had the Dimmer switch delivered today, and connected it to the bulb but I still can’t pair anything with my Home Mini even though guides online say you should be able to do it without a Bridge.
When I go into my Google Home App, I get to Philips Hue page, and it auto searches for a Bridge.
I’ve got an Amazon Echo 8 coming mid December and apparently the connectivity is better on that due to Zigbee(?). So my questions are as follows...
- Is it possible to connect Philips Hue and Google Home Mini with only a Dimmer Switch?
- Same question but with Amazon Echo 8?
