We are meant to be registering DS2 tomorrow. We had provisionally chosen Theodore with nn Theo or Ted, but I'm just not sure. Worried it is too popular/faddy and will date. We went out yesterday to a soft play and felt like every other boy was Theo. I do love the name though but worried he will end up one of many. Do we stick with it or go with something else? Other options were Samuel, Gabriel or something else. What do you think he looks like he would suit?

Theodore suits him beautifully! He could also be a Henry/Harry.

Dunno but he’s gorgeous.
Theo is nice where I come from it’d be Feo though not as nice. Congratulations.

GwenCooper81 · 01/12/2019 17:41

I love Theodore Nn Teddy. Gabriel is perfect...Nn Gabe. He is delicious. Congratulations.

houseofrabbits · 01/12/2019 17:43

He looks like a Ted (Theodore) or a Gabe (Gabriel) Grin

MyNewBearTotoro · 01/12/2019 17:45

Theodore is a lovely name and so are the shortenings - I agree with pp who think he looks more of a Ted/ Teddy but Theo is gorgeous too.

I don’t think the name will date badly, after all Theodore Roosevelt was born in the 1850s so it’s hardly a new or faddy name. If you’re really not sure then Ted/ Teddy could alternatively be a nickname for Edward, but personally I prefer Theodore.

Theo is such a lovely name. It is popular though, there were six in DD's nursery.

puds11 · 01/12/2019 18:00

Oh god he’s cute!! Theo is very popular at the moment, I know at least 3. I think it’s the Stephen of this generation.

Love Gabriel with Gabe for short. Also love Hugo, Huggy as a nn

missmouse101 · 01/12/2019 18:00

I'd call him Adorable Squidge! Grin

puds11 · 01/12/2019 18:00

If my DD had been a boy she would have been Maxwell, Max for short.

Before I read your OP I was thinking Ted just from the picture so that gets my vote, congratulations OP.

Gertie75 · 01/12/2019 18:12

They're all nice names but agree that Theodore/Ted is very popular at the moment, my vote would be Sam.

Boireannachlaidir · 01/12/2019 18:16

He's a Ted if ever I saw one. Congratulations SmileThanks

Genuinely before reading your message, I thought "Sam, he's a Sam" and then continued reading and saw it as a name you like!

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 01/12/2019 18:53

Without reading your post first I though the was a Sam.

Reading it now both Theo and Ted are lovely names.
