British Gas Help

Anyone got any tips for getting through to British Gas? My homecare agreement is currently suspended because they couldn't take this month's payment. This was due to my recent change of bank account, all sorted now for future payments but I still need to make this month's payment. Helpline currently unavailable - I just get a recorded message saying how busy they are and please resolve my issue through the website. There isn't even the option to wait in a queue. So I go to the website, where I can't access my account to make the payment because it's locked (due to the outstanding payment) and they want me to call them. Hilarious, isn't it?

I tried Live Chat. The guy was not able to take payments, or to arrange for someone to call me back. Have asked for help through Twitter - no reply. The email informing me about the problem has a link saying "email us" but clicking the link just takes me back to the website.

So I'm totally stuck. Anyone got any tips for getting through to a real person? Usually selecting "make a payment" gets you through to a human but it's not working this time.

Complaints
To make a complaint:
• Email us at ServicesCustomerTeam@ britishgas.co.uk
• Call us on 0333 200 8899 •Orwritetousat:
British Gas Services Customer Relations PO Box 699 Winchester
SO23 5AR

Or tell them on twitter that you want complaint logging, probably get a quicker reply that way.

Great...will try one of those next.

Currently in a phone queue after choosing "close my account". Will give it 5 more minutes.

Facebook messenger-I got a response within 5 mins at about 9pm.

Tried the complaint line - believe it or not it took me back to the same "sorry we can't help you now - do it yourself on the website" message.

In the end I used a combination of threatening to close my account and the WeQ4U app. Got through in 14 minutes.

Will still send an email explaining my thoughts about the whole experience - so thank you for the contact details.

Facebook messenger is a useful one to remember, too. Didn't think of that.
