If you had £250 to spend on yourself what would you buy?

My parents very generously offered to give me £250 that must be spent on me. (I work very hard for not a lot of money and, as with most parents, most of my money is spent on the DC and house etc.) But I am stuck for what to buy. Their suggestion was clothes but I don't really need anything. I am also trying to be less consumerist/declutter/live more simply etc. So don't want to spend lots of money on clothes I don't need. Although I would be open to spending it on one classic and quality item that would get loads of use (leather jacket??)
I don't need anything for the house. I love books but again don't want to spend the money for the sake of it!
My hair is a bit of a disaster so could use some of it to get highlights etc done. Wondering if the Dyson hair products are all they are cracked up to be and if I should spend the money on something like that to try and sort my hair out?
I would like to spend it on something that is a real treat and not fritter it away.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

I’d put it towards a painting or buy a Coach handbag .

Luuby86 · 02/12/2019 00:39

A kindle and some books

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 02/12/2019 08:24

I’d buy a Nintendo Switch, even though people on MN like to act as though gaming is only for children and/or stereotypically useless men. It’s fun!

Jewellery, something in solid gold, most likely a necklace OR flights for a city break in the spring. No contest for me.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/12/2019 10:29

@CoffeeWithMyOxygen we love our switch. I don’t play on it very often at the moment as I’m struggling with headaches, but I’m all about the Mario when I play :o

Elbeagle · 02/12/2019 10:29

2 sets of nice underwear
Some decent skin care products
A pair of decent jeans

IrisJoy · 02/12/2019 18:50

Thanks for all your replies. All great suggestions and now I am even more confused! 😁
@lioness88
@Purplecatshopaholic I am really tempted. Of you could choose one which would it be? Does the dyseon stop your hair having that slightly frazzled frizzy blow dry look?
I don't have loads of body hair as I am quite fair.. But starting to get that chin fuzz etc. I wonder if it would work for that?

That should say @lioness88 I love those boots!

I’d buy a nice pair of running shoes

I’d spend the rest on bottles of nice gin and fancy cans of beer

bobstersmum · 02/12/2019 19:12

I am going to sound really vain but I'd either have a tiny bit of botox on my frown and crows feet or I might have semi permanent eyebrows just because mine are so thin and sparse they take me ages to do every day!

Verily1 · 02/12/2019 19:14

A spa night away or full day if you can’t get childcare.

Notname · 02/12/2019 19:19

I have a dyson hair dryer and it’s good and powerful but I wouldn’t say it’s made my hair look any better. I wouldn’t spend the money on it in your position. (And yet I was still tempted when saw the Dyson hair curler thingy advertised! 😳)

isseywith4vampirecats · 02/12/2019 19:21

i would splash out on a really good comfortable pair of leather motorbike boots as i cant justify the cost right now but given the money i would go to town

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/12/2019 21:06

@irisjoy difficult - but nice - decision! I love my Lumea as body hair is pretty much a thing of the past (but I am quite dark - maybe less of an issue if you are blonder). Suspended hairdryer really makes a difference - not sure how, but it does! Enjoy your treat whatever you go for - and let us know x

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/12/2019 21:07

That was Dyson hairdryer!! Autocorrect!

IrisJoy · 02/12/2019 22:18

Thank you all. Now instead of not knowing what to get I want everything! 😁
I will let you know...

An iPad! I’ll never justify the cost to myself considering I have an ageing kindle fire tablet but I’ve wanted one for years. Saw some good Black Friday deals around that price point.

newdeer · 02/12/2019 22:51

I'd buy some perfume, a really good scented candle (White Company probably) a new long pendant - not bought any new jewellery for ages and a cashmere cardigan.

SandAndSea · 02/12/2019 22:54

Oo! I know, I know!!

A cleaner!!!

You're very welcome.

Thestrangestthing · 02/12/2019 22:55

All saints have a sale onat the moment, 30% off. Their leather jackets are lovely, Ive asked dp for one for Christmas, you would still have a bit of money left over.

fedup21 · 02/12/2019 22:59

A set of Bravissimo matching underwear.
A pair of jeans.
A pair of boots.
A bag.

Getoffmylilo · 02/12/2019 23:03

I'm with @DonPablo - I really want the navy Fablou bags, or a little ring stack from Astley Clarke

KatyaZamolodchikova · 02/12/2019 23:05

I’d buy:
A coffee machine (with milk steamer)
Some Chanel Perfume
Books

I know none of these things tick your boxes, but it’s what I’d buy.
