If you had £250 to spend on yourself what would you buy?

My parents very generously offered to give me £250 that must be spent on me. (I work very hard for not a lot of money and, as with most parents, most of my money is spent on the DC and house etc.) But I am stuck for what to buy. Their suggestion was clothes but I don't really need anything. I am also trying to be less consumerist/declutter/live more simply etc. So don't want to spend lots of money on clothes I don't need. Although I would be open to spending it on one classic and quality item that would get loads of use (leather jacket??)
I don't need anything for the house. I love books but again don't want to spend the money for the sake of it!
My hair is a bit of a disaster so could use some of it to get highlights etc done. Wondering if the Dyson hair products are all they are cracked up to be and if I should spend the money on something like that to try and sort my hair out?
I would like to spend it on something that is a real treat and not fritter it away.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

All saints leather jacket here too or lovely leather boots... both would last years

IncyWincyGrownUp · 01/12/2019 15:19

I would spend £150 on underwear, and the remaining £100 on a jacket.

I'd probably get a facial/nail extensions. I also could do with replacing my hoover as it doesn't keep upright anymore.
I guess keep it safe if you don't know what to spend it on for now. Maybe do some sale shopping after Christmas 🎄 Wink

I’d spend some at my absolute favourite hairdresser, who went travelling and has now come back and opened his own salon, which is too expensive and too far away. I’d book a couple of appointments and save up, so I could afford a third later in the year.

Nononononono33 · 01/12/2019 15:35

Ooh I think I’d get a really good haircut, a couple of hair products to try to keep it nice, a spa treatment in January so something to look forward to (also there may be some good offers for after Christmas). I’d also get a new pair of black leather boots. Whatever’s left I’d stash away knowing I have it if I see something I like - something else to look forward to in the dreaded January!

I'd have a massage and facial, a few hours to yourself - definitely worth it.

Homemadearmy · 01/12/2019 15:38

If I was you I'd go down the spa and hair restyle route as it sounds like something you'd enjoy.

Perfume, nice pair of gold earrings, good shoes.

dementedma · 01/12/2019 15:41

Sheila fleet jewellery and a massage.

An Elvis and Kresse backpack lite. Recycled out of fire hoses and parachute silk.

NorthernLightss · 01/12/2019 15:49

Maybe a really good winter coat, boots, gloves etc?

applesandpears33 · 01/12/2019 15:58

I'd love a series of hot stones massages. I find my muscles really tighten at this time of year and it would be lovely to have a massage once a month until spring.

OhHellYa · 01/12/2019 16:01

Not sure if I'd bother getting highlights, as it might look amazing, but then you'll need to maintain them, and possibly won't be able to afford that. I think something that will last like a really nice coat, nice boots and then maybe a night out with what's left

Jewellery

At the moment I want my old perfume I used to wear, (haven't bought it for a few years now), a tattoo, a warm dressing gown, and a spa day wouldn't be declined either.

justjuggling · 01/12/2019 16:15

Massage, facial, hair cut! Done!

Blingismything · 01/12/2019 16:31

I'd get some Chanel perfume, a lovely leather purse and some brightly coloured leather gloves, maybe some Redken products.

Devonishome1 · 01/12/2019 16:51

Beats headphones

I second the haircuts and hair colours for a year plan. Plus some lovely books. Your hair is part of you and you will get months of enjoyment compared to an item hanging in the wardrobe.

mrsbyers · 01/12/2019 17:01

I bought myself an Apple Watch - had it delivered yesterday , trouble was husband really wanted one and was a bit quiet while we were waiting for it to be delivered - he soon cheered up when I said two had mysteriously been delivered and passed him his , I am now using the walkie talkie function to ask him to put kettle on , run me a bath etc

Loopytiles · 01/12/2019 17:05

money is an issue so hair colouring will be depressing when you can no longer afford it.

I’d keep it and use it to buy clothes as/when needed, eg bras, shoes, winter coats etc can wear out.

percheron67 · 01/12/2019 17:09

I would put it into my "buy a Chanel bag" tin.

ims0rrydarlin · 01/12/2019 17:11

Definitely get your hair done.
It’ll make you feel great and will look lovely too.

You could put the rest aside and treat yourself to a manicure when required as a treat, throughout the year.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/12/2019 17:12

I like the tattoo suggestion too. A small tattoo would be a great way of spending money entirely on oneself!
