Melanoma hand hold please

My mother had a biopsy on a black spot on her nose which had been there for at least two years but recently started to grow. Apparently it may be melanoma - they need to remove more of it aggressively under general anaesthetic.

Has anyone had experience of this? We aren’t in the Uk but any experience in terms of what is coming would help.

How scared should I be?

Sorry to hear this.

I don't have any really useful information, but my mum had a melanoma removed 30 years ago and everything has been fine since.

Has she had any further tests besides the biopsy?

Thank you for replying. She hasn’t said if she has had any other tests- I guess these would be blood tests? Her next surgery is in a week.

Just had a biopsy 2 weeks ago and am awaiting results. The biopsy itself was relatively simple (on my shoulder) they cut quite deep and took some extra skin from around it to make sure they got it all a bit of cauterising (sp) and 4 stitches it was uncomfortable at 1st but not to bad just bleed a fair bit obviously its trickier on a nose as there's less tissue and skin to play with but I'm sure that she'll come through ok Flowers
