Relating to the ectopic pregnancies in particular

I saw this this morning. Women need to flee the state, its actually dangerous for them. I'd imagine most OB-gyn doctors are looking to move, who'd practice in a place that could see you imprisoned for doing your job?

fussychica · 29/11/2019 14:47

Inhuman. Saw it this morning and couldn't believe what I was reading.

SilverySurfer · 29/11/2019 14:55

It's horrifying and as you say, wonderstuff there will be an exodus of gynae professionals from the State.

Gilead · 29/11/2019 14:56

Welcome to Gilead! This is terrifying.

Queenfreak · 29/11/2019 15:05

This is abhorrent.
So women are left to die- knowingly by obgyn, or the doctor goes to prison!

stucknoue · 29/11/2019 15:18

Just read this - its crazy. Have none of them got a brain, the procedure isn't medically possible

Foslady · 29/11/2019 15:20

Surely if they knowingly let them die then they would go to prison for that too?
They will have no ob/gynae in that state - absolutely terrifying

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 29/11/2019 15:22

Yep, women will start dying of eptopic pregnancies in Ohio, because there won't be any ob-gyns to take them out safely.

I don't know whether to be more angry about the attack on women's rights or just the fucking stupidity of these people.

ThatsMeInTheSpotlight · 29/11/2019 15:27

I don't see how this bill can make it into law since it isn't medically possible to perform the procedure. I'm always suspicious when legislatures have a top-line policy that they know isn't workable and will attract attention. It usually means they're distracting from another bill or clause that they hope to push through.

If I was an ob/gyn or a woman in Ohio, I'd be looking to move . . . or become a politician.

MumofTinies · 29/11/2019 15:30

This is so scary! Would a woman be charged with 'abortion murder' if she refused to undergo an attempt at a procedure that doesn't exist?

diddl · 29/11/2019 15:34

How great if it was possible & ectopic pregnancies could be saved & a fallopian tube not lost.

Don't they think that surgeons would already be doing this if they could?

havingtochangeusernameagain · 29/11/2019 15:35

Unbelievable. Was this the state where you end up in court if someone stabs you in your pregnant stomach because you shouldn't be provoking someone if you are pregnant? Or was that another state? Either way, the US isn't a great place for women of childbearing age at the moment.

Campervan69 · 29/11/2019 15:36

This is terrible. What is happening to the intelligence of people? How can they try to codify into law something that is physically impossible? It's madness.

msmith501 · 29/11/2019 15:39

And worse still, if the doctor refuses to perform an illegal and impossible operation to reattach something that will already have died, he will be subject to possible imprisonment. ... all for saving the woman's life isn't the first place.

Campervan69 · 29/11/2019 15:40

Unbelievable. Honestly I despair.

Poppinjay · 29/11/2019 16:24

Don't they think if it was possible to reimplant an ectopic pregnancy, it would already be happening in lots of cases?

So many aspects of this are terrifying. The world is regressing in so many ways at the moment.

user1471505356 · 29/11/2019 18:25

No mention of this in the New York Times or Washington Post.

PatchworkElmer · 29/11/2019 18:27

This is completely insane!

Thescrewinthetuna · 29/11/2019 18:30

They’re fucking insane. Not sure if they’re distracting from something else, trying to get it to the Supreme Court to challenge Roe v Wade completely or they are genuinely insane misogynistic ballbags?

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 29/11/2019 18:33

I don't get it, are these people just totally thick or what?

How can you legislate for something that is medically impossible? How can that happen? What the fuck?

nocoolnamesleft · 29/11/2019 18:38

Blessed be the fruit.

mumwon · 29/11/2019 18:56

its not in Reuters either - why 3 most respected news sources in USA not mentioning this? Has Guardian been fed false news or don't they believe it? Hang on a mo! This was originally promoted earlier in the year - so I assume the idea is that they are trying to get this through during the holiday close down? I remember writing an ethics essay on abortion - & how in a South American country where a little girl of 10 was raped by her step father & the doctor with the mothers backing game the child an abortion because he felt that her body couldn't cope/survive the pregnancy - the Catholic Church in that country excommunicated both of them - there have been incidence where women have had miscarriages have been accused of murder & been imprisoned for murder. I think each & everyone of this legislature who are responsible for this act should be under threat of prosecution for murder if anybody dies as result of their laws.

DirtyWindow · 29/11/2019 18:58

Horrific
