Has anyone got married very recently?

Hi all,

Curiosity really, although this is very important to me.

I’m getting married to my partner next April. I’ve heard the law is changing so that mothers’ names are now to be included on marriage certificates. I’ve looked online and can’t find any info to say that this has already happened - just that the law has been passed and should be in effect by the end of this year.

I will obviously speak to the registrar when we go to give notice of intention but... in the meantime, has anyone here got married very recently and were your mother’s details added on to the certificate?

Many thanks

I'm getting married next week, and when I gave notice, the registrar only asked for my dad's details. I hope it's changing, even though it will be too late for me!

We have them on our church register but not mothers occupation, when the register is full we are hoping that the new one will be more inclusive

Not got married recently but we had Dm and Dmil as witnesses so they were included in the documents we have.

I have notice a week ago today, the lady said to me that they are bringing it in next year. When you pay your final amount ask about it then.

Married recently, had DM as witness as not father on register

We did the same as a previous poster. Our mums were our witnesses.
