Workman smoking

The carpet fitters are here. One has just gone and sat in the van to smoke, with carpet rolls next to him. These carpets will now smells of cigarette smoke, carpets which he is going to lay in someone's house. He's just walked into my house and he reeks of cigarette smoke so I imagine the carpet does too. Would you raise this with the company? The smell of cigarettes makes me heave, so don't know if it's just me being precious.

I think you're being a bit unreasonable, he's smoked in his van and not on your property.

The carpets will be in a separate compartment to where they sit and smoke, and he won't be in your house long.

I'm a none smoker so I'm not bias - just think here there's not a lot to worry about

The carpet rolls are on the seat next to him I can see them. He can stand outside the van and smoke.

If it's a company van, it's illegal for him to smoke in it.

VenusClapTrap · 29/11/2019 14:20

I would not be impressed with that. Cigarette smell clings to carpet.

That honestly would infuriate me. I’m a non smoker so I could be biased also
But paying for new carpet is expensive and I would be gutted if it stunk of fags

EmmiJay · 29/11/2019 14:20

The carpets won't absorb (?) the smell because, I'm assuming, they're all wrapped up...? Also they're not in van long enough and we don't know how often he smokes, either way the carpets won't reek of cigarettes.
