Morning. My DS(8) has asked for impossible things from Santa-one of which being a Guess that Pokemon game, but he has asked for the red ball one, which according to him is the Kanto region. There was one on eBay but now it’s gone, and I was wondering if any of you lovely people would possibly have,by some miracle- a boxed up one I could buy?He does this type of thing every flipping yearAngry

I've been looking at these too, and I think the Johto region one has all the Kanto pokemon as well? It's in stock on a couple of websites. It's not red though, if that matters!

BigBairyHollocks · 29/11/2019 09:57

Hi thanks for replying, what is Johnto? Is that the yellow one? I take it you have a Pokemon mad child in the house too?

It's the blue one I think? In stock on Zoom or Argos among others. There's also the Hoehn (?) edition one which didn't seem as good as didn't have as many Pokemon in it. Double check what I said though as I am a Poke-novice! DS is only 5.5 and just starting to get into it all so I am sure I will learn!

Thank you so much-I will take a look and hopefully one of these will satisfy himGrin

eBay have a fair few of them.

heartsonacake · 29/11/2019 10:34

The games are based on Pokemon generations; Kanto is Gen I, Johto is Gen II and Hoenn is Gen III.

Hoenn is the newest Pokemon Guess so that’s the one in the shops. If you want Kanto or Johto you’ll need to get it off eBay; there’s loads on there.

Fabuleuse · 29/11/2019 10:44

Sorry, the Argos one is the Hoenn edition, I was wrong there. But the Johto edition seems the best value to me as it includes 100 Johto pokemon and 151 Kanto so 251 pokemon. The Kanto edition just has the 151 Kanto ones and the Hoenn edition just has 135 Hoenn ones.

BigBairyHollocks · 29/11/2019 11:06

Thanks everyone, that makes it cleared. Off to figure out how to use eBayBlush

Fabuleuse Yeah, there’s more Pokemon in the Johto pack, but if all the child’s favourite Pokemon are from, say, the Hoenn region it’s not going to be very valuable in terms of actually wanting it as a present.

All Pokemon aren’t equal. It depends entirely upon the recipients personal Pokemon favourites as to what pack they would prefer.

hellhavenofury · 29/11/2019 11:31

I have just bought this for my nephew if this helps -

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T98ZHBT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Fabuleuse · 29/11/2019 11:33

@heartsonacake yeah sure, but if the OP's child wanted the Kanto Pokemon then surely the Johto edition game would give them those ones and some more? Also it's in stock on the Zoom website which saves the hassle of Ebay? I am partly posting so much here to make sure I've understood it properly before I buy one myself. Blush

Bahamut · 29/11/2019 15:02

This might be late but johto is pokemon gold or silver they contain 251 pokemon while red and green only contain only 151 ruby sapphire and emerald have more than gold or silver but it's the same pokemon including some more each game

safariboot · 29/11/2019 15:49

If he's played Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee on Switch, or the original Red/Blue/Yellow on the 3DS Virtual Console, they have the Kanto Pokemon. The original 151, and that's also what Pokemon Go started out with.

As others have mentioned, the Johto version of the Trainer Guess includes the Kanto mons plus the extra 100 that were added for the Johto games - that's Gold/Silver/Crystal.

TheLordAndSaviour · 29/11/2019 16:42

I'm pretty sure Dobbies has something like that? It was a while ago but looking in big toy shops and supermarkets are worth a good try. If you are familiar with 20 Questions, I belive the toy your child is looking for I like that, but looks like a poke ball.

Hope it helps Smile

BigBairyHollocks · 29/11/2019 19:05

Hey thank you everyone! That one on Amazon is exactly the one he wants-but it’s nearly £40😲😲Crazy money for something he will probably never look at after Christmas Day.But I think I’ll bug it anyway, thank you everyone Flowers

I’m. It sure which one I bought now (and can’t check as have roaming dc Grin), but they had two of these in Sainsbury’s - not sure which two.

I know I stood there trying to weigh up which one to buy for ds, but can’t remember which I went for (or what the options were!)

It could be worth checking your local supermarket (am fairly sure I saw it I. Tesco too)
