Surprise party! Present on the day?

Have organised a surprise party which is really ( really) expensive. Significant birthday. So I’m not getting him a gift as such.

The only thing I hadn’t thought about is what’s he going to say when he gets nothing. He loves presents so I know he’ll be suspicious if I get him nothing.

Any cheap personal suggestions for things I can make or do as I’m not buying him anything. I’m making a cake already.

Someone help, please...

I need to give him something so he doesn’t A twig his actual present is the party.

What can I make? How have other people kept the secret all day? Worried he’ll guess.

How about a voucher for an activity day. But a fake one. Or is that mean?

And when is the party in relation to his birthday? If it's the same day can you say it's still being prepared as it's a made to order thing?

We had a bottle of wine given to us that was described to us as a 'very rare bottle indeed ' so, as I am a nosey cow needed to see if I should add it to our insurance, I took it to the local wine buff ... turns out it was a bottle of plonk with a new 'old looking ' label on it . Probably worth a tenner at best .. sooooo it fooled my husband ( and me for a bit ) so why not do the same - look up expensive wines and faux one !

Sorry should have said the party on the evening of his actual birthday.

That wine one would have been perfect. Unfortunately he can’t drink anymore so I can’t give that.

I was thinking of giving him 50 of something, but I can’t think of anything cheap but worthwhile.
