Can anyone recommend a book for someone who actually served? He enjoys them, but often puts them down halfway as they don’t ring true. He enjoyed Ant Middleton’s books and Jason Fox’s. If anyone with military experience can recommend one it’d be hugely appreciated! Would prefer autobiography, but fiction may work at a push! Thanks.

Any particular era? I really enjoyed Trusted Mole by Milos Stankovic. More about intelligence perhaps but its a really good account of the army and paras at that time. Damien Lewis (not the actor) does a lot of well received stuff in this genre as well
