When do I say something?

I live in a block of 8 flats, almost in a U shape. I'm at the side with just one flat above me, the rest are at the front or the other side of the U - if that makes sense?

Anyway, a new family moved in upstairs. Unsure when but quite recent.

They seemed to have moved in with 2 very young children (in a one bed flat). The problem I have is that they are SO noisy.

Banging constantly, and actually worse from 10pm-1am oddly. Kids running around/banging/screaming. The kids you can hear out in the foyer clear as day but I think it's just my flat that's affected by the banging. They also seem to come and go at odd times? The other night they left the flat with the child at 1am. Last night they came home at 10pm.

The children/child (as I'm unsure how many) clearly don't have a routine and it's really starting to get to me. Do I say something to them? Find out the estate agent and tell them to have a word? How long do I leave it - I'm really not sure they've been here longer than a month but I'm genuinely fed up already. It's 2330 as I'm writing this and I can hear the kids running around upstairs.

I am so tired. 😴

Oh that’s so annoying. Assuming they don’t realise how much noise you can hear from them, speaking to them would be the calm approach.

Failing that, banging on the ceiling when they are making noise, and then playing loud music early in the morning (I’m not actually recommending you do these things!).

Oh believe me I am sitting on my hands trying to avoid using a broom on the ceiling!

I will have to speak to them eventually I just don't want to, I don't want to make things worse you know? But it can't continue, it's been less than a month and I'm already going mad

I would speak to them now. They aren’t going to stop making so much noise of their own back. I feel for you OP. They sound horrendous.
