Best Icing for a chocolate cake?

I'm in the US and going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I'm planning to take a kick-ass chocolate cake, but now can't make up my mind how best to decorate/ice it. Choices are:
Swiss meringue buttercream - I've only ever successfully made this once before, but I have some spare egg whites around.
Regular buttercream
Mirror glaze
Ganache.

I can also do chocolate vermicelli, drip and curls to decorate. So - what do you think would be best for filling & topping (& sides) the cake? I can do a mixture of different things, e.g. buttercream in centre and ganache on top.

What do you think will look/taste best?

Ganache Ganache Ganache!

Happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow.

I am in Scotland so should not be celebrating but I have family in the States and love the whole Fall vibe so we are having turkey and pumpkin pie.

That's one of the things I miss most not living in the states anymore, I loved thanksgiving. Have a lovely day tomorrow.

Ok - so, ganache seems popular.

Would you do buttercream in between the layers and up the sides? Then whipped ganache on top, with curls, and maybe a chocolate drip around the edge?

DH LOVES a big turkey dinner and we will probably do turkey breast & all the trimmings on Fri, then maybe another turkey for Christmas!!

I now understand why Americans say Happy Holidays - you're just recovering from one feast before the next one lands at your door.
