For 11 and 13 year olds, have got Mario Kart 8, was wondering if the Mario Party is any good? Have heard Zelda is good, is Super Mario Smash Bros any good? Ahhhh too much to chose from.

For that age I would definitely get Zelda, the only downside is you can only play as a single player so not good if they want to play together.

Ds turned 13 today and asked for super smash bros. He doesn’t usually play the switch but a few friends in school also have it and it’s very popular with them. He’s been doing two player with his brother on it earlier.

TheReluctantCountess · 27/11/2019 23:16

Ds has asked for two Pokémon games. He’s 13.

Verite1 · 27/11/2019 23:29

My DS loves Zelda. Hands down his fave.

Lessstressedhemum · 28/11/2019 00:41

Breath of the wild is fabulous. Mario party is great, so is mario tennis. Luigi's mansion is really good. Yoshi's crafty world is lovely. Pokémon sword and shield are out and pretty much de rigueur. There are so many really good, family friendly games on switch.

Mario Odyssey is excellent, Smash Bros was a massive hit here, Zelda has been battered and battered - I think the boy is about to embark on his third wave of looking for elusive shrines, minecraft and terraria go down well, as did mario maker 2. I can’t think of a game they’ve bought that hasn’t been appreciated.

They’re getting the new Pokemon games for Christmas, and I expect there to be blissful silence for several hours in the afternoon. It’s going to be epic :o

I might be a bit delicate (my son is only 8) but I hate super smash bro. Needless violence

We have super mario maker and he loves making levels for other people.

Thanks everyone, you haven't made my decision making any easier at all Grin

May I recommend Arms and Splatoon 2?

MagicKingdom17 · 28/11/2019 09:45

I’m playing Luigi’s Mansion 3 at the moment and it’s really fun. Totally suitable for a 11 & 13 year old Smile.

PJMasksGhekko · 29/11/2019 12:10

I have just found monopoly for it, will give that a go, thanks everyone

Mario Party is pretty awful, tbh. Terrible waste of £50.

Yoshi's Crafted World, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, Zelda, Pokemon, Splatoon 2 are all excellent 'big' games. There are literally hundreds of decent cheap games in the eShop, down to pennies.

SpoonBlender · 29/11/2019 12:25

Monopoly? Worst game ever. It was designed to show how awful capitalism is, by boring you to tears and inciting fights.

The Pokemon games are great. You can get last years Pokemon at a god price now.

My ds has enjoyed Mario and Rabbids kingdom battle - again, you can pick this up quite cheaply.

I’ve loved Zelda breath of the wild, but it is definitely 1 player only.

My dc have enjoyed sports party as a fun game to share.

The Lego games have a lot of play content and are fun to complete.

I like Captain Toad and yoshi’s crafts world. And Asterix.

PJMasksGhekko · 29/11/2019 12:57

OK Monopoly is out.

So it will be worth waiting to see what is on offer on the eshop?

OP posts:
spiderlight · 29/11/2019 13:02

Mine absolutely loves Splatoon.

BadLad · 29/11/2019 13:35

I have just found monopoly for it, will give that a go, thanks everyone

It's OK but not as good as the board game. But don't get that - get Hasbro Games Night, which gives you Monopoly, Risk and Trivial Pursuits.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 30/11/2019 04:52

What about the new Mario and Sonic Tokyo Olympics one

Pinkbonbon · 30/11/2019 05:12

The new professor Layton one (katrielles journey or something) would be good for young girls (has a fashion element).

Can't go wrong with Zelda.
The super Mario one is fun too. Forget what its called.

Everyone talking about pokemon sword and shield - just buy one. It's the same game. Unless you have two children, one copy is fine. They will never collect all the Pokémon even if you buy both versions so don't waste money on two.
