Off work ill

I'm a teacher and have had so many children off this week with horrible viral illnesses, high temps, lethargic, just not well.

lol and behold this morning I woke up feeling like I've been hit by a bus! Slept fitfully last night and feel dizzy and fuzzy headed along with body aches.

Stayed off today, and in all likelihood will be off tomorrow too. I'm not well and need to get better but why do I feel so guilty??

I dropped my little boy at school this morning and thought I was going to pass out on the walk back I feel that fuzzy headed!

Posted too soon!

Anyway I'm trying to resist the urge to check my emails etc. I don't feel too bad once I'm lying still but up and about I just feel terrible!

Just feel like I've left my colleagues in the lurch!

Ok, being blunt, i',m not sure what you're asking or wanting out of this thread.

You're not well, it happens, your colleagues (and the kids) will cope, it's not the end of the world.

Keep your fluid levels up and rest up properly so you can get better asap!

Thanks @TheHodgeoftheHedge ! Not really wanting anything just wanted to vent a bit I suppose!

Thank you for the reality check!

People get ill. Do you feel ‘left in the lurch’ when your colleagues are ill?

idontgetpaidenoughforthis · 27/11/2019 10:58

I get it. I'm a teaching assistant and currently signed off for a week after struggling for 3. I feel horribly guilty, especially as my 1:1 will find it difficult not having her familiar support person. It's an occupational hazard 😕

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 27/11/2019 11:09

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean (and I totally get the vent!), just you only get one body and your health is a priority. Concentrate on getting yourself well again and do your best to push everything else out of mind - worrying and stressing won't help anything :)
Hope you feel better soon!

Mammyloveswine · 27/11/2019 11:39

Don't worry @TheHodgeoftheHedge I get it!

I'm now more pissed off as had a message from my head asking about my planning and whether it was fair when they were "a staff member down". Well obv when I planned it I was supposed to be in!! 😡

I've been off all week with shivers, headache, earache, blocked nose....haven't had a good night's sleep in days! I feel your pain OP, my son is total germ magnet.

Mammyloveswine · 27/11/2019 12:30
