Has anyone ever bought a 5 year old a camcorder??!

Thanks to the film ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ my daughter really REALLY wants a camcorder like the one the girl uses in the film. She wanted one last year but I decided she was too young to use it carefully. This year she is asking for one again. It was at the top of her letter to Santa and it’s the first thing she mentions when asked by friends/family.

I wasn’t entirely sure if they still existed (especially the ones with a tape, as in the film) but digital ones do and I could get her one from eBay for £40 so not too bad.

However, could a 5 year old master one? She’s pretty good with technology and can operate my phone and the telly.

Or is it a crazy idea?!

I have a horrible feeling it will mainly be used to film me walking around with my pyjamas on, on the toilet, getting out of the shower etc! Lol

Just to add, she wants a black/silver one. Not a colourful kids one. That’s very important.

I think I would get her one if that's all she wants. As it was on her list last year it's not a phase. Kids are pretty good with technology and if you get her a newish one then it won't be ancient as she gets older and more capable

I think she could definitely work one. I’m astounded at how quickly children master technology, compared to me.

My problem would be being filmed at every hour of the day, without warning. I’d HATE it!!

Oh yes she'll manage it just fine! What an amazing gift though, and so great that she's been so tenaciously focused on it for a whole year. You will need to have a word with her about consent and appropriate times/places for filming to be sure, but this is so cool!

Brilliant idea, definitely get one sounds like she will be over the moon with it. might pinch that idea myself actually!
