Oh wow, listening to music on You Tube and forgot how much I loved these songs in my teens:
Sugarbox by Then Jericho
Feels Like Heaven by Fiction Factory
Story of the Blues by Wah

Does anyone share my taste?

Nope! Or at least, I don't! Not that I don't like them, but I don't know them Smile

I'm all about the 'pop' from the 80s, with a whole load of Bruce Springsteen thrown in, and a few power ballads. Give me chart hits any day of the week. Grin

I also like Script for a Jester's Tear by Marillion but it's a bit long...

MelanieFrontage · 27/11/2019 00:33

Come on Eileen

I’ve even requested that it’s played at my funeral, much to DH’s disgust, best friend though will ensure that this happens (should she be alive...) 😂

AutumnRose1 · 27/11/2019 00:40

Love your taste OP, just listened to two of those this evening!

Yay for poster who mentioned Scarlet Fantastic No Memory - a top favourite of mine too!

MelanieFrontage · 27/11/2019 00:46

Sign of the Times, The Belle Stars

Anything by Rick Astley, Paul Young, Duran Duran and (because I babysat his dog once 😂) Curiosity Killed the Cat!

BerwickLad · 27/11/2019 00:54

Story Of The Blues is a righteous song. When I first heard it I couldn't quite believe no one had created it before because obviously if you've got music at your disposal you should do that with it.

I like loads of these. I like loads of 80s songs. It was a very varied decade really. Little bits of leftover punk, mods obviously, dark synth pop, disco blended to high nrg, bubblegum pop, power pop, rock and metal still continued of course but also hair rock and power ballads, rap, electro-house, dance, goth, preppy pop ... It had it all, stuffed into ten incredible years.

MelanieFrontage · 27/11/2019 00:56

@BerwickLad I wish that this forum had a like post!

BerwickLad · 27/11/2019 01:02

@MelanieFrontage cheers fellow 80s fan! Did you really dogsit for Ben Unpronounceable-Name? (As Smash Hits called him.)

Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat
White Wedding - Billy Idol

MelanieFrontage · 27/11/2019 01:20

@BerwickLad I really did, it was at my gym and they had some kind of road show there and Ben had bought his dog along and I had to look after him (it) for the day, I can’t remember the breed, except it was small, but I do remember being pissed off that as designated dog sitter I couldn’t join in. To make matters worse I didn’t even get to meet Ben whatsisface!

BerwickLad · 27/11/2019 01:20

Other favourites (for now)
You Can Call Me Al - Paul Simon
Party Fears Two - The Associates
Living On A Prayer - Bon Jovi
True Faith - New Order
This Charming Man - The Smiths
Peekaboo - Siouxie And The Banshees
Hide And Seek - Howard Jones
You Spin Me Round - Dead Or Alive
Enola Gay - OMD
Boop Here To Go - Sly And Robbie

BerwickLad · 27/11/2019 01:26

@MelanieFrontage aw, shame. So near and yet so far!

MelanieFrontage · 27/11/2019 01:27

But the funny thing is with Ben whatshisface is that I was particularly talented at drawing portraits but wasn’t studying Art (that came later in my life) and my bestie at the time was studying Art O level....
She had an assignment to draw a portrait, she got a grade A and I’d like to think that most of it was down to me drawing Ben whatsisname on her behalf 😂
