Sertraline: is this normal?

HyperemesisandPND · 26/11/2019 22:28

On my 3rd dose of sertraline today. I took a half dose tonight due to feeling so bad. My anxiety is through the roof. Cant breathe and so much pressure on my chest. I cant sit still. Literally feel awful.

Also I am so hot. Probably TMI but I'm dripping in sweat.

I never had a reaction like that. It could be side effects or it could be a coincidental illness.

Call the GP tomorrow or if you’re really worried try 111 tonight x

GypsumFantastic · 26/11/2019 22:42

I did find it made my anxiety much much worse before it got better
I’d wake up having panic attacks, it was awful
That said, I’d call 111 just to double check

I had both reactions, but especially the sweating - the sweating did settle down but it took a good few weeks.

FreedomBird · 26/11/2019 23:01

Yes to the sweating. Normal for me. Made my jaw very tense and I felt more aware of my anxiety. It did settle down though.
Just ride out the next couple of weeks and it should all settle down.
I felt very odd especially for the first week.

smoresmores · 26/11/2019 23:07

I had this in the first week, felt as though I was on the verge of a panic attack (which had never happened before). Anxiety is a common start up side effect but speak with your gp to be on the safe side

Sproglets · 26/11/2019 23:07

I’m on day four of sertraline today. Not had the sweating but do sometimes have an odd feeling in my chest like everything gets heavy for a bit, heart rate and breathing stay the same during it though so not bothering to do anything about it.

smoresmores · 26/11/2019 23:08

Have to say I sweated buckets for the whole 6 months. But it was a worthwhile sacrifice for feeling better, albeit very annoying.

stupidtabloidheadlines · 27/11/2019 05:15

I had to take small increments, rather than go in with a standard amount.

Increased anxiety is the worst symptom but it is totally normal it will settle down but give it time 4-6 weeks sometimes longer and depending on the dosage you need. Stick at it. Good luck

Sertraline made me wild. It made my anxiety really bad and also gave me thoughts of harm.

That said, my Dad is on them and they suit him fine.

irrationalrainbow · 15/12/2019 12:31

Would increasing a dose cause increased anxiety for the first few days? Because my moods through the roof not nice at all x

irrationalrainbow · 15/12/2019 12:31

Went from 150 to 200 four days ago. Started back on sertraline 5weeks ago starting at 50mg
