Bristol mumsnetters please help me plan my visit

I've never been to Bristol before and am planning a trip for the four of us (DH, DS 18, DD 16) for two nights between Christmas and New Year. I'm looking at the Premier Inn, Finzels Reach, as did want to stay on the barge but it's full. Is Finzels Reach a good place to be based? What are the must not miss things to do? Also what's the best way to see the Clifton suspension bridge? So many questions....

UPDATE: Thank you all for your suggestions. We had a brilliant couple of days in Bristol and all want to go back. We did a big walk around the docks - visiting the M Shed etc, after we arrived, did the street art tour the next morning (it was brilliant), and then walked up to Clifton and the Suspension Bridge that afternoon. Had lunch at a lovely Greek cafe on the way up to Clifton! We went to the panto that evening too as a friend is in it, which was fun. Thanks again for your tips and input.

Meant to add, the Premier Inn Finzels Reach, was perfect - new, quiet and easily accessible to everything.
