If you're going to use it legally, you can watch BBC, ITV etc via their apps for free, but you'd need a subscription to Netflix, Amazon Prime etc if you wanted to use those apps.

We mostly use ours for BBC/Channel 4 catch up, Netflix and Prime, although it does have some games and other apps.

You don't need to unless you want to watch Netflix. 95% of what I watch on my firestick is thought Netflix. Occasionally I watch Prime.

Ok, not much point then I suppose as I have a smart telly which I can launch stuff through.
