Has anyone retrained?

I feel like I'm at a bit of a crossroads with life and work right now. There are redundancies and reduced hours at my current place of work and we have a new line manager who isn't very nice - bit of a chauvinist and he is rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way trying to change how we work and so on. I feel like I've had enough. I have a degree in English and history but I never did anything with it as I became pregnant straight after graduating and then went on to have my ds after. I got this job when the dc were small because it was flexible around school hours and so on but now they are both older I could probably think about doing something else. But what?

My entire 12 years at this company has mostly been administration or PA work and I have no direction about where to go next. Just wondered if anyone else has retrained in later life? What did you do and did it work out for you?

Lots of people retrain at 30 or 40.

What kind of thing appeals?

Marketing? HR? Something creative? Something more directly related to your degree such as Museums and Heritage sector or Journalism?

Or do you want to drastically retrain? (STEM, IT, Healthcare etc).

It'll be easier for posters to advise with more pointers.

I like the idea of marketing and PR work. Journalism too.
