Semi lighthearted thread about Christmas Family Huffs

Aargh, does anyone else have this?

Outwardly perfectly ‘naice’ family.

Inwardly the amount of festive huffs already started about who is doing what where, who is not going there because they are somehow huffing about being invited (??? Me neither). One relative spreading rumours about planned perfectly innocuous Christmas event, more huffing ensues, another older relative huffing because they haven’t been contacted in a week then refusing every invitation proffered (quite rudely too!). General walking on eggshells around various relatives, with a fixed smile and gritted teeth from here until the new year...

And everyone else seems to have perfectly lovely families all gearing up to share the festive mulled wine and hang out happily together.

Or is everyone’s family a bit nuts behind closed doors? (Please say yes)

Yes yes yes, OP. I think most families all go a bit looney at this time of year! You can't please everyone, it's very difficult!

We are having it at home this year. This is fine because princess sil is having it with her in-laws. It has now transpired that my in-laws are coming to mine. That's fine.

We have been through a supposed secret Santa for adults, a set budget and then partners parents buying us a fridge. I am now the equivalent of the shit on Satan's shoe because I dared to spend £15 more than the budget I didn't know about!

This is from the "close" family that spend their life gossiping!
