Does anyone suffer from fibromyalgia?

Just trying to diagnose myself and wondered if anyone has fibromyalgia, and if so, what are your main symptoms?

I am mid 40s pretty healthy, fit, slim, etc. No reason to think there is anythjng wrong with me but have started to get various pains and aches. The really strange one in particular is a sort of a burning pain in my leg muscles - my thighs in particular - not enough to stop me doing anything but just unpleasant. I am also constantly tired - but then again I probably could do with more sleep.

You really cant diagnose yourself with a medical problem

RonaldMcDonald · 25/11/2019 00:43

Was diagnosed with it. I disagreed.
I believe I have pain and exhaustion from other sources.

Notcontent · 25/11/2019 00:43

No, I realise that - but my symptoms are very vague and I know my gp will say the usual about coming back if it dorsn’t Get better, etc.

Have you had your iron levels checked? That would be my first suggestion.
There are folk with fibromyalgia on here. Probably worth looking for some of those threads. What often gets reported is high levels of generalised pain and fatigue, also increased sensitivity so e.g. if you bump yourself, it hurts way out of proportion. But there's lots more.

Worse symptom is severe burning sensation.

I was told I had fibromyalgia a good few years ago because I had widespread muscle pain and severe fatigue.
After many years of being told I had CFS I was eventually diagnosed with Hypopituitarism caused by severe head injury.
I have secondary Hypothyroidism and Severe Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency and Low cortisol...all of these cause pain and fatigue.
There is quite a bit of improvement in the pain and fatigue when I am on the Growth Hormone Treatment and proper dose of Thyroxine and hydrocortisone.

I have FM. As you know you need to rule out other issues but from what you've said in particular the "healthy" I bit I would say you've not got FM.
The other symptoms can incude extreme fatigue, insomnia, migraine, IBS, tinnitus, depression, noise/light/stimuli/food sensitivity a range of pain types and lots more bits of fun. I hope you find what is wrong with you and that it's fixable. :)

Thanks to those who posted. The type of pain I have in my leg muscles is a burning/stinging type pain, which is why I thought of FM. Also had some cramps.

I have fibromyalgia and RA.The pain from fibromyalgia is usually diagnosed by tender points over most of the body. It's not usually focused on one area,if this helps at all.Sometimes disc pain in back can travel to legs I think.

Caramelblonde · 25/11/2019 23:39

Sorry ,should say not focused on one area!

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 26/11/2019 11:48

I have fibromyalgia. It’s usually diagnosed by a process of elimination. I started off being treated for bursitis, then tested for rheumatoid arthritis, then after more tests was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Took 6 years.

Try magnesium spray for your legs.

I have fm. I can sleep all day, then all night.

My body considers itself injured for no good reason- think sports injuries but no sport.

I have pain in my neck and shoulders.

I feel like I'm recovering from an extreme endurance event, but without having done the event.

If you prod me, I'll yelp. I hurt all over.

@RonaldMcDonald This is me right now, they think fibrolmyalgia which I don't believe, although I am still having tests for psoriatic arthritis. Did you ever get a different diagnosis?
