I have been picking away at a ukelele for about a year. Just playing along with youtube videos. Its coming along but I'm no virtuoso. Its relaxing for me but probably no one else. I like an hour or so on sunday but I feel aware it's getting on peoples nerves.
Do I sit in the cupboard?
We dont have much room. And I cant find NY local clubs...
Any ideas.

Whose nerves is it getting on ?
Not unreasonable to practice an instrument within your own home.
Or, are there not times when you are on your own at home if it really is an issue ?

When you can where you can. I come from a musical family so wasn,t unusual for 3 people to be doing music practice at the same time in the same house.

DH and dd2. Possibly next door as well as the sound leaks through quite easily.

I think if you limit it so it's not going on all day, and also no anti-social hours it's okay.

My dad is a musician and he practices all the time, when I lived at home I always wished he would time some practicing for when I was out because sometimes the entire evening I was home he would be playing. So if your family is out that's probably a good time, it doesn't need to always be when they're out though. Just enough it isn't constant Smile

My DS plays guitar (Classic and Acoustic bit he's hinting for an electric one)

He plays any time , in the front room, about an hour or so.
It's quite melodious .

Not sure if NDN can hear it , but we get subjected to their (frankly shite) loud music so meh don't really care Hmm

We have someone who practices their trombone in the woods near us on a Sunday morning!
