Since when has a size 12 been XXL?

Saw a nice dress in H&M and they deem a size 12 to be an XXL. What type of message is this sending out to young girls. I don't normally worry as I know sizes come up different in lots of shops but surely this is crazy!

I’m pretty sure it’s not. But to be honest we’re better off just being a bit more resilient here and take sizing with a pinch of salt - I have clothes in my wardrobe ranging from 8 to 14. They all fit the same and I’ve always been the same weight. It doesn’t mean anything - if you know you haven’t gained weight why would wearing a ‘bigger’ size matter?

@ElspethFlashman that is absolutely stupid. What is the world coming to. There are times when I’m glad I didn’t have a daughter and for her to grow up with this crap

Massimo Dutti are dreadful for this. I just look at what looks like it will fit me, in there it's usually XXL, I'm barely a size 12.

When I went in there the first time I tried a leather jacket on in medium my usual go to size in most stores, I couldn't get my arms down the sleeves!

All the nursing stuff I bought (Amazon and obviously from China) was XXL at 14/16. Probably because compared to the local body type it is.

I stopped caring what the label said after wedding dress shopping when the right size was anything from a 10 to an 18 depending on designer and style... I was usually a 14 at the time...
