Mini pill hell - help!

ginyogarepeat · 23/11/2019 20:10

I've been taking the mini pill Cerelle for a month now to help with endo symptoms. I've been feeling increasingly low and irritable/angry along with insomnia and night sweats.
I've now been bleeding for a week - consultant told me I could double the dose to help with this but I'm petrified it could worsen the emotional side effects I'm experiencing.
Part of me wants to come off it altogether but it is helping with the endo pain so I'm at a loss what to do. Any help or advice gratefully appreciated!

Any chance you could take a different mini pill? I'm on Norgestron and have no problems with it. Just one light 3 day period. I have heard of friends having problems with Cerelle. I'd assume they all have the same ingredients but not sure because of this. Doc told me if this one didn't agree with me I could try a different one.

I could I suppose but am terrified of more of the same! I've had lots of different hormonal treatments this year, wondering should I just take a break from them altogether.
I would try doubling the dose of cerelle but can't find any answers online regarding if this is likely to help with emotional side effects or worsen them!

I went through a full five months of this before it stopped.

I begged the GP to come off it because of the random bleeding literally every few days - she wanted me to see out the trial period.

It weirdly and magically all stopped overnight coming up to 6th month but Christ it was murder

Thanks vanya. The bleeding doesn't worry me as much as the low mood, I really feel dreadful with it at the minute.

I tried it to manage endo. I used to take Cerazette which was okay. They made me swap to Cerelle (apparently it’s cheaper) and despite them saying it was the same it really wasn’t. I kept having fantasies of running away! I felt stuck in ‘flight’ mode of ‘Flight or fright’’. I had chronic pain which ultimately only a laparoscopy with diathermy could cure. Fortunately my periods also improved after that although 2 years on they’re getting worse again now.

Thanks faith. I really don't feel like me on it, it's like my absolute worst PMS symptoms constantly. I've had one laparoscopy a few years ago and think I need another. Sorry to hear your periods are getting worse again Sad
