I’ve managed to get time off for DH and I at the same time (no mean feat as I am a teacher and school holiday time off seems to be prioritised for those with children where he works) in the Christmas holidays.

I tried to get him football tickets for Christmas for one of the New Years matches, so we would have stayed somewhere local to that, but lost out in the farce that is the ticket sale day, so now the world is our oyster!

Looking for 3/4 nights, starting from New Years Eve. Can be UK or Europe based. Just need some relaxing time squirrelled away together, perhaps some city exploring or we also like walking/outdoors too. Ideas please? (I looked at places like Centre Parks and Forest holidays but their prices are astronomical because of the school hols.)

something like this in cornwall? you are near St Ives which is by the sea and has restaurants and shops etc, and the resort itself has lots of lakes and woodland

Looks nice, thank you! Should have said we go to Cornwall a lot so maybe somewhere different.
Edinburgh? Berlin? Prague?

Seville is lovely at that time of year. Nice weather, lovely Christmas decorations. Beautiful city. BA Holidays do some excellent deals.

Seville hadn’t even crossed my mind, thank you.
I’m worried that Edinburgh will be rammed at new year?
Maybe a cosy cottage somewhere cotswald-y?

Sorry that link is for Cotswold cottages. I can personally recommend Burford, Stow and Bourton on the Water.
