Is my 6 year old too old for play Mobil?

6 (and a half) year old has asked for the play Mobil Noah’s ark for Christmas.
We’ve never had play Mobil before so I’ve no idea if it’s suitable. Online it’s days from ages 4 to 12 years but is it too babyish?

I hope it's not too babyish for a 6yo, as my 9yo has loads of it and it's her most played with toy!!!! (Other than a laptop which I try to limit)

It's great for imaginative play, and kids should be encouraged to keep playing for as long as possible. It's good for their development and understanding of the world around them.

What sort of thing were you imagining your 6yo wanting?

My 8 Yr old still plays with play mobil, it's less fragile than lego so he can be a bit rougher and his elder sister will play occasionally too

My 8, nearly 9 year old, has a great big Playmobil set coming for Xmas! He loves it!

@lilgreen I would ask because it doesn’t say Noah’s ark specifically is for 4-12 but 4+ so I wanted to know how + it was in others opinions because as I said I have no previous play Mobil experience. I find it hilarious that you’ve taken the time to reply to a thread when you have absolutely nothing of use to say.

@MsAwesomeDragon I never have any clue what she will ask for! For her birthday she wanted things ranging from a laptop to a luvabella.
As I said previously I have never played with play Mobil so no idea what it’s like.
Thanks to the more helpful posters and their opinions. I have ordered the Noah’s ark and am sure she will love it

All my children have loved playmobil, and even DS1 who is 11 will sometimes still play with his pirates (although he claims it’s only to keep his little brothers happy!). If she gets into it then ebay is your friend.

Thebookswereherfriends · 22/11/2019 18:54

We’ve just bought my 7 yr old a playmobil fairy garden and holiday cottage for her birthday and she was totally thrilled and plays with it every day.

chickadeee · 22/11/2019 19:22

My 14 year old still plays with it!!!

AragonsGirl · 22/11/2019 19:24

You’re never too old for playmobil! My children and nephews love playing with our old playmobil when visiting the grandparents, and my brother and I are now building vast collections for our own children (as well as having some of our own that the children aren’t allowed!)

No, my 9yearbold has asked for the new space stuff for Christmas

egontoste · 22/11/2019 19:32

Years ago I remember someone saying to me to go down either the Lego route or Playmobil but not both, and I wish now I'd gome with Playmobil.

Go for it.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 22/11/2019 19:36

You’re never too old for playmobil - I’m eagerly awaiting the Mumsnet playmobil Christmas thread!

pontiouspilates · 22/11/2019 19:36

No way too old, six is ideal and reckon you will get a few years play out of it. We sold most of ours on too as its always popular.

june2007 · 22/11/2019 19:43

AS a child I was so into playmobile I would go for it.

SunshineDays2019 · 22/11/2019 19:50

SoMuchToBits would have an opinion on this!!! Smile
