I bought my son this Xmas jumper and I usually wash things before first wear. Would you put this in with lights or darks? Tia Smile

I'd wash it separate on a wool setting with other wool tbh. If you don't want to do that I'd wash it first time with other red things. Normally my washing consists of red colours, blue colours, whites, darks, wool occasionally when something woollen needs washed.

SingingLily · 22/11/2019 16:08

Agree. If any colour is prone to run, it's red, so careful handling for the first wash with other red items and then you'll have a better idea about its resilience.

ParadiseLaundry · 22/11/2019 16:20

Must you absolutely wash this? I think it looks like the kind of this that will always look better before you wash it! Could you make an exception?

SteamedPotatoes · 22/11/2019 17:09

I normally wash everything too before wear, my only exception is apply jumpers like this one. If you must, I'd do a low temp, quick wool wash

Boyskeepswinging · 22/11/2019 17:11

Why do you wash clothes before you wear them? If something is dry clean only do you dry clean it before you wear it?

KellyHall · 22/11/2019 17:13

Our machine has a 10 minute 'freshen up' wash that can be done with cold water. I'd use that.

justilou1 · 22/11/2019 17:14

I would wash it by hand in a bucket or the sink in cold water with either wool wash or diluted shampoo.

firstimemamma · 23/11/2019 08:53

Thanks all. Think I'll have ds wear it first then when it's dirty wash it with other red stuff.

It would be better in a white wash , it should r run because of it does then it would damage itself . Def not with whole colour reds as they may run into the white bit AND def not darks ..
whites with whites
Darks with darks
Colours with colours
Anything else on its own .

Plexie · 23/11/2019 09:10

Don't wash it with whites - if it runs it will turn everything pink.

As PPs have suggested, wash it separately the first time. I prefer hand-wash as you'll easily see if the colour runs.

oohnicevase · 23/11/2019 09:36

But it must be colour fast or it would ruin itself ! 🤷‍♀️
