Does this sound like a night terror???

I’m a little bit freaked out. DD (aged 3) is unwell. Sickness bug at the start of the week, now a bad cough and temp 😢

She has woken about 7 times already this evening but the last time when I went in, she was really distressed. She wasn’t acknowledging me or answering me but was periodically acting like she’d seen something scary and screaming. I couldn’t reassure her as it was like she wasn’t aware of my presence.

Then, all of a sudden she looked at me and stared really confused, then started crying and saying “mummy why are you tiny?” I asked her if she could see me and she said yes but then got extremely distressed and kept asking why I was so small. She could completely communicate with me at this point and answer questions but was so distressed. I’m assuming she mustn’t have been fully awake and somehow her vision was temporarily distorted. She has fallen back asleep. I think I’m just possibly overly concerned about her because she is ill at the moment. Does this sound as though it’s just a night terror? Thanks.

Yes and no. The first part does but not the rest. How high is her temp?

Her temp has come down now with Calpol. It was 38. The last bit was what I was really unsure about to be honest.

I agree with the above-first part sounds like night terrors my son had at around 2 years old

DS regularly gets night terrors. I've had some pretty weird conversations with him during his episodes, including one where he repeatedly screamed at me: "Mummy's gonna die." If I ask him questions he responds but then gets distressed at something again. It's very weird. Then he'll suddenly wake up properly and be all "oh hi, what are you doing here."
