Anyone else working Christmas Day?

Got my rota today and am working a long day on Christmas day. Am off Boxing day and then working NYE and NYD. I am not too upset as I get double time for Christmas Day and NYD.

Anyone else?

Yes... Working 22:00-07:00 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Then 18:00-03:00 (although likely off late!) on NYE

My place of work retail/hospitality are trying to make us work on Christmas Day. I'm already working Xmas eve, Boxing Day and nye/day. If I'm am rostered in I simply won't show up, we have all decided that as a team. If people cannot go one day without coffee something is seriously wrong.

TravellingSpoon · 24/11/2019 07:46

I agree @lifeonaloop. I understand I have to work Christmas as the people I work with need care. Noone needs coffee.

I'm working Christmas Eve evening and Christmas Day am but I work for a church, it's our busy time! It's also quite magical sitting in a candlelit church at 11.30pm with the choir singing, and being paid for it

My DH is on call Christmas morning - but there's no public transport and he doesn't drive, so I'll have to take him in if he's called out. He's off Boxing day, in New Years Day. NHS.

DH is working New year's Eve and New year's Day. He works for a company that does the warehousing and haulage for M&S foods.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 27/11/2019 09:25

@lifeonaloop where do you work'?

lifeonaloop · 27/11/2019 09:40

@myusernamewastakenbyme a leading coffee shop. It's a franchise though and the boss is very greedy

myusernamewastakenbyme · 27/11/2019 09:43

@lifeonaloop thats a disgrace....the greed of some people is unbelievable.

I have to say that everyone I know who has worked Christmas or NYE in the NHS says the atmosphere is wonderful, only the patients who are too unwell to go home are kept in and it's very special. Thank goodness for these selfless people who do these jobs, for not much, and also the emergency services and hospitality.
