I suspect that different areas have different waiting times. Have you had a look on the website FertilityFriends - it was invaluable to me when I was planning and having IVF.

Do you know what you’ve been referred for? What tests have you had so far?

If you’re being referred to a gynaecologist it is likely they will look at various options depending on the cause of infertility.

IVF tends to come if other options have been exhausted or if it is known that IVF is the only realistic option (eg very low sperm count). Do you know if IVF is available on the NHS where you live? And if there is a qualifying period in terms of years spent TTC or age?

@BlueLadiebird I have an appointment next week for a pelvic scan , I’m guessing I will know a bit more then on options ? They haven’t really said on what treatment is good for me yet . I’m not having periods much ...

I have no medical knowledge at all but... if you’re not having regular cycles but your OH’s sperm seem ok (has he had a test?) I would expect they would put you on a drug called Clomid which is designed to stimulate your ovaries into ovulating. This seems to be a first step because it’s non invasive, has few side effects and is cheap.

Pop over to the infertility boards ... they are a friendly bunch there!
