HMRC - anyone made an appointment with them?

I have to get a form signed by HMRC regarding overseas payments, just to say I will pay tax in this country, not in the country that is paying me. When I send it off to HMRC they take 3 months to stamp the form. I have a local office - does anyone know whether I could get it done in person? I've seen on the Gov website that appointments can be made.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

It's a Certificate of Residence form - sorry, should have said.

I am not 100% as I don't know anybody who has tried but I would be extremely surprised if you could do this.

They have to carry out checks on the information you provide so I can't see that happening there and then even if they made an appointment. The particular caseworkers/inspectors are unlikely to be based in the office nearest you anyway given how centralised everything is.

My understanding was that appointments were only going to be for vulnerable taxpayers. Whereas you just want an accelerated service (not unreasonably, though).

Filling out the online form rather than posting it might speed things up a bit as you won't have to wait for it to be opened (which can be the slowest part and literally take weeks), scanned, directed to the right place, then processed.

I'm not sure I can fill in the online form, as it's come from another country. You're right, I think - I was just frustrated that it was going to take 3 months to get paid. Thanks, though!
