Red wine and dodgy stomach

Pleeeeeease someone help me!!

The last 4 times I've drank red wine I've had the worst dodgy stomach. I'm talking the full works.

I thought it was a coincidence until tonight when I had two glasses.

I've googled a bit but tend to stay away from it, and I guess I'll go to docs because I love red wine but wondering if anyone has had similar?

Boo boo me.

Did you used to drink it without any ill effects?

tilligan · 19/11/2019 19:57

Alcohol can affect you differently as you age...(!) but seriously, don’t bother your GP for that!

advicegiver5 · 19/11/2019 19:58

No more red wine for you

Sounds like as you've become older you've become intolerant

Woeisme99 · 19/11/2019 20:04

What do you expect the GP to do, other than advise you not to drink red wine? Grin

kidyoullmovemountains · 19/11/2019 20:04

Very much so. But then I have IBS and lactose intolerance. I believe milk is sometimes used in the process of making wine. But alcohol is an irritant generally. Red wine is the worst for me of all booze. Sad because I love it!

lorettalemon · 19/11/2019 20:09

I find it has this effect on me. I started to find all alcohol does, but particularly red wine - white or sparkling much less so. I felt it wasn't worth drinking for how it would make me feel afterwards. Perhaps try to find a different drink which you like and are ok with - you might just have to accept you can't tolerate red wine any more.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 19/11/2019 20:09

Apparently just like hair dye, you can suddenly become intolerant to wine too.

You have my sympathy ShockFlowers

Try sulphate free wine. Sainsburys organic is nice

Isitactuallyme · 19/11/2019 22:17

This happened to me. I used to be able to polish off bottles of the stuff. Now 2 glasses and I'm tipsy. Red Wine all night at dinner and I've got my head in the toilet all night. It is devastating!

Eckhart · 19/11/2019 22:19

Was it the same sort of wine each time OP?
