Full disclosure: I haven’t been shopping for sex toys or watching porn or anything that would create a reason for specific stories to be directed to my newsfeed. I don’t even click on these stories to read them- I just see the headlines.

On my FB newsfeed over the past few weeks I’ve noticed quite a lot of stories involving dildos. Far more than I’ve ever been aware of in the past. A lorry carrying lots of dildos crashed and spilled its contents all over the road. Some criminals were raided/caught with a gazillion stolen dildos. A man was stopped at airport with a dildo in his bag planted by friends (that one seems pretty common though) and today I’ve seen a story where a man “accidentally” opened his neighbours parcel and was horrified to find a 14inch dildo. 
there are a couple of others I can’t quite recall. The last one, IMO is hardly worthy of a FB status let alone going to the press someone buys sex toy- that’s hardly shocking news is it? I’m assuming this man has the maturity level of a 5 year old and has never actually met a real woman let alone talked about sex.
So what’s going on? Why are there suddenly so many stories about dildos? Is it to boost sales for Xmas? Or, ummm, nope, can’t think of anything else. any ideas?
