Here is another thread to discuss the PA interview and its repercussions.

@Dowser
I was astonished to see in the PC documentary that he also owns a house in Wales!! All these places have to be staffed . It's beyond ridiculous.

Yes, that’s the video.
I watched loose lipped Paul Burrell on loose women the other day and he was asked the question is what we see in the series The Crown true to life.
Absolutely he said, I’ve lived it and whoever has written it has got it spot on.

Never mind slimming down the monarchy, slimming down the flunkeys should also be top priority.

If it is true to life, which PB assures is it is, why would you want to live at Buck House, which is more like a collection of offices surrounded by all those people.

I’d hate it.
If I were queenie, I’d much prefer a large house in its own grounds on the outskirts of London , with some trusted employees, away from all the machinations of the Palace.
I also find it very odd that her and Philip are separated. I thought when he withdrew from public life ..he meant just that..why has he gone and holed himself up in sandringham. Maybe he couldn’t stand buck house either.
I bet they really regret letting the cameras in.

I imagine at that age they are in a happy friendship... Close but not close.

I doubt Beatrice will even get married now. I suspect the fiance will wheel spin out of it all

I hope the Italian Count doesn't pull out of the wedding because of all of this! Well... if he does,it must be because he's not getting such a toe-in into the RF as he thought, after all this furore. He's got quite a checkered past too, he's got a young son with an ex girlfriend.

There were official photos for Eugenie's wedding last year, the pompous ones all set in Buck House. I can't see that happening for her sister.

Dowser · 23/11/2019 09:55

Sunset boulevard
Oh yes I’ve known that for a while. My cousin lives outside of Cardiff and he’s a frequent visitor to Cowbridge I believe.
It’s crazy isn’t it and even if he’s purchased it with his own money...it’s like what was the source of that money?

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2019 09:56

“ I imagine at that age they are in a happy friendship... Close but not close.”
Or they could hate each other’s guts.......

MillyMollie · 23/11/2019 10:07

MissEliza
It was reported some time back, with the same photograph re the ghastly, in my eyes Woody Allen and his stepdaughter.
Trump and Clinton too were supposed friends of Epstein. They are photographed together.

Winterisnigh · 23/11/2019 10:08

Nice comment Bertrand Confused

But the public has never seemed to warm to Prince Philip or hold him in much esteem really.
Aside from the the distraction of a large funeral I don't see how it would make things go away

Winterisnigh · 23/11/2019 10:09

I'm not sure whether it matters really.

Whether they hate each others guts.... Or just are not that passionately into each other after such a long, long marriage.

ajandjjmum · 23/11/2019 10:16

Even at 93 the Queen has had 'duties' most days this week, in addition to the Andrew problem. At 98, Philip has probably just had enough, and wants a bit of peace and quiet, and the opportunity to just amble through the remainder of his life. Can't really blame him.

Or maybe he is around, and has read Andrew the riot act behind closed doors.

ColonelCathcart · 23/11/2019 10:24

MissEliza DM says also at the dinner was TV host Charlie Rose, who apparently has since also been accused of sexual misconduct.

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2019 10:39

“Even at 93 the Queen has had 'duties' most days this week, in addition to the Andrew problem”

I wonder if they will include showing more public support for Andrew? Hmm

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2019 10:40

“ Aside from the the distraction of a large funeral I don't see how it would make things go away”

The death of Philip will make any criticism of the Queen’s position impossible.

PP is going nowhere. The RF are living proof that access to the best possible healthcare, a raft of flunkies and endless wealth is conducive to an extremely long life.

Dowser I agree with you about all the royal residences. It’s staggering to think that these are all fully staffed, even when some of them apparently remain empty for most of the year, and some of the estates are huge with multiple royal residences on site e.g. Royal Lodge.

I remember it caused a lot of anger way back at the time of the Windsor Castle fire when the British public were being asked to foot the cost of repairs, even though at the time I don’t think it was even open to the public. I think that this latest debacle has dragged up a similar feeling of anger, in that PA has inadvertently revealed just how out of touch they really are and the contempt they hold us (the British public) in when they think we’re not listening.

user12345796 · 23/11/2019 11:19

Exactly what I have been thinking.

noodlenosefraggle · 23/11/2019 11:19

Did no one ever tell tell him to be nice to those on your way up, you might need them to be nice to you on your way down
The problem is that there was no 'way up' for PA or the rest of them. They were already there. People bowing and scraping and doing what they say just because of who they were born to. Unearned privilege that has meant he doesn't realise he is where he is because the 'little people' allow him to be there. Not the other way round.

spacepyramid · 23/11/2019 11:26

Balmoral was purchased by Prince Albert back in the 19th century, Sandringham was purchased for Edward VII, also in the 19th century.

It's snowballing, isn't it?

packingsoapandwater · 23/11/2019 11:51

@peridito

I think the photo is doctored. The thing that first made me suspicious was Roberts' arm and the fact her watch seems unusually high above her wrist.

Then I noticed the back of PA's trousers, the helmet outline of his hair, and the strange lighting between the faces of PA, VR and GM. I reckon it's a cut up job, and is being used to push him into a corner.

Because I think the real story behind the relationship between PA, JE and GM isn't the allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking per se, it's the production-line style blackmail of global political, cultural and business figures who took advantage of the underage girls, and were filmed and photographed doing so. And what that blackmail was used to achieve in the political and global realm.

That's the explosive, end of the world as we know it, stuff.

Moomin8 · 23/11/2019 11:53

I'm sorry, that's the most ridiculous thing I've read about this. Prince Andrew himself doesn't say it was 'doctored' because he bloody well remembers it being taken.

Frownette · 23/11/2019 12:09

I hope the count doesn't back out of the wedding, that would really cut her up.

RhinoskinhaveI · 23/11/2019 12:13

That photo of the queen and others on horseback, heads down all wearing black, it looks very funereal....
