Please help me salvage my bolognese

I’m currently batch cooking a huge bolognese and the last thing I added was meant to be a dash of red wine vinegar but the lid fell off and at least a quarter of the bottle poured into the pan!

I immediately scooped out a lot of the juice but is there any other way to salvage the meal?

I really don’t want to just throw it away as there was a lot of mince and vegetables in there Angry

mrsbyers I've googled it, they are definitely the same thing. You may be confusing things with baking powder.

Boil a potato in it. It will soak up the vinegar, then you can bake it with some salt.

Baking soda is bicarb.

Baking powder is different altogether.

But only a tiny pinch if you try it! It is very powerful at stopping acid and sharp tastes. It will make bubbles and then you stir in and back to normal but less sharp tasting, also less acid to stomachs if anyone has acid reflux or indigestion in family.
I use if I am making sauce with fresh tomatoes.

Add some strong black tea - tablespoon to start and then increase to taste.

Baking soda and bicarbonate of soda are the same thing :)

Cut your losses and order Pizza

DO NOT ADD TOMATO PASTE (it is acidic)

Just let it cook out (let it boil for a little while stirring it, to burn off the fumes) for a while and after tasting if it still has a sharp taste add sugar.

fishonabicycle · 19/11/2019 16:20

I accidentally dropped a ton of sugar in my last batch! I scooped lots out but it still tasted a bit too sweet 😫

@Dumptyhumpty101

How is your concoction coming on?

Fredy45 · 19/11/2019 17:05

I was going to say a potato. No idea if it works mind

Just eating dinner now, we’ll I’ve finished and my toddler keeps sticking the handle of her spoon down her throat and making herself gag.

I think it’s actually alright, but I guess DD isn’t a fan!

The real test will be when DH gets home for dinner.

Thanks for all your tips
