What brand do you use? I always like the idea of hot chocolate but they always leave me a bit meh. On here they seem to be the epitome of cosines so I might give them one last try if I can get a recommendation.

So far I haven't really got on with Cadbury's, options or green & blacks. Maybe I'm making them wrong 🤷‍♀️

Hotel chocolat from the velvitiser - the salted caramel one is fab

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/11/2019 09:59

Whittards. Have both the chocolate and the salted caramel with chocolate ones. Perfect with a Baileys shot

LemonPrism · 19/11/2019 10:02

I melt chocolate in milk with a splash of cream. Although I actually don't like it very much as hot chocolate feels more like a shit dessert

Making your own beats all others. 1-2tsp cocoa, 1tsp sugar, bit of vanilla essence. Milk. Cream and marshmallows on top.

Justonedayatatime11 · 19/11/2019 10:11

Spanish hot chocolate. About £4 a tin on Amazon. It's amazing

Trewser · 19/11/2019 10:15

Nesquick, if you can handle nestle.

I had the most delicious hot chocolate at an outdoor event a few years ago. I asked her what it was and she said nesquick, so that's what I buy. We all prefer it to the posh ones.

tryingtocatchthewind · 19/11/2019 10:17

If you want quick and easy, I really like Ringtons hot chocolate

Abibranning · 19/11/2019 10:18

Twinnings is lovely. DH thinks I'm obsessed I've tried so many, most are fine, but my favourite is Twinnings

GrumpyHoonMain · 19/11/2019 10:19

I melt hotel chocolat pieces (milk chocolate) into a mixture that is half cream / half full fat milk. Then top it off with shaved dark chocolate

NemophilistRebel · 19/11/2019 10:20

Didn’t realise twinnings didn’t it

I just stick to options as if I’m having a drink that’s over 100 calories I’d rather eat the solid chocolate 😆

EmmiJay · 19/11/2019 10:41

Malteasers or Galaxy with a drop of whole milk for me. Omg its so thick 🤤🤣

SilverySurfer · 19/11/2019 10:51

Charbonnel et Walker or Green & Blacks for me. No squirty cream on top and no marshmallows.

AnotherEmma · 19/11/2019 10:54

I was going to recommend Green & Blacks but you say you've tried it.

You used milk, right?
And plenty of hot chocolate powder?

I can't bear the instant stuff made with water, but green & blacks with milk is delicious.

dollyandshirl · 19/11/2019 10:56

Atkinsons hot chocolate drops

theneverendinglaundry · 19/11/2019 10:57

I like making hot choc with cocoa powder, as you can add as much or little sugar as you like. I bought a Cadbury hot choc and had to bin it, it was so sweet.

notacooldad · 19/11/2019 11:00

Charbonnel et Walker is my first choice.
Dh bought a salted caramel one from Aldi a few weeks ago that was nice but it hasn't been in stock since.

MustardScreams · 19/11/2019 11:02

Grated Willie’s 100% cacao Venezuelan black with brown sugar, whole milk and a splash of cream whisked together. YUM.

For ease, the Aldi extra special powder is really delicious.

NannyR · 19/11/2019 11:02

I also prefer proper cocoa, but to me they are two different drinks, hot chocolate is thick, creamy and very sweet, cocoa is darker, more chocolatey and less sweet, I make mine with half water, half milk so it's not creamy at all.

pollywobble · 19/11/2019 11:35

@MustardScreams
Is that the Choceur/Alcafe/another from Aldi?

pollywobble · 19/11/2019 11:41

@Justonedayatatime11 do the Spanish ones tend to be be sweet?

bananacakerox · 19/11/2019 11:42
