Is this depression or just being a knackered mum?

I am a single mum to 2 teens and a baby. Most days I feel exhausted. The highlight of my day is usually going to bed. Sometimes the thought of having to go back upstairs for something/put another load of laundry in/do the dishes feels completely overwhelming, although I always find the energy to do it in the end. I go out during the day, take the baby to groups, take teens to activities etc but often feel a bit flat (as well as the constant tiredness). Thoughts?

Possibly a mix of the two OP. Being knackered would be highly likely with two teens and a baby. Do you do anything for yourself? How old are your teens? Would either of them be old enough to look after the baby even once a week for an hour or so to let you enjoy a long bath, a coffee with a friend or just a walk on your own?

Maybe both but - have you and your vitamin levels checked? I felt like this and I was anaemic and b12 deficient.

check your thyroid, too!

Oh that’s a good idea about the vitamins and iron levels. I’m a vegetarian so it’s probably a good idea for me to take an iron booster anyway. Thank you for your replies. Sometimes it helps just to write down how I’m feeling and acknowledge it myself.

I’m a vegetarian too - and you’ve got a baby so you’ll be even more depleted. I felt quite hideous when I was iron and b12 deficient. I couldn’t believe the doctor when he said that was all that was up with me! Levels are normal now, got motivation again and feel so different.

Not saying it’s not depression - been there too. But definitely worth getting your bloods done.
