chlamydia Test.

I have recently taken a chlamydia test , it came back “ borderline” and I have to re test ... can someone tell me what this means ? As I’m endlessly worring about it ..... I have no symptoms of it at all . Neither my partner for 5 years ...

Anyone ??

I work in sexual health (but not specifically with chlamydia). It is most likely caused by either contamination of the sample (with some other sort of bacteria, for example, something you had on your hand when collecting the sample) or something went wrong in transport or storage at or on the way to the lab, meaning the sample wasn’t high quality enough for the results to be trustworthy.

People often panic when they get these sort of results thinking it is some sort of indication the result is really positive. It isn’t, it’s likely just a technical error of some sort, and I’d try not to read too much into it. The good news is you haven’t had any symptoms.

You’re right to get in for a retest. Did you do it at the clinic or via a postal test? I would take yourself in and see if you can get a walk in appointment just so you can get an answer as soon as possible, so you can stop worrying.

Has your partner also had a test? Obviously if their results came back negative you can be fairly sure yours will be too, if you’ve not been with anyone else.

@mindutopia Thankyou so much for your reply on my post, you have put my mind at ease ! I had the test done at my gp surgery along with other sti tests. I’m in the process of going through fertility treatments . I had them done to rule anything out I guess . Yea , his came back normal too . I’ve done a re -test today. Thanks again . 🙂
