Using the nectar app in store for double up vouchers

First time using nectar double points.

I presume I can go into Sainsbury's and pick the items I want, then use the app in store to change the necessary points for vouchers before going to the checkout.

The website just says you can't exchange points in store ...I just wanted to check that doesnt refer to using the app in store.

TIA

Yep, that's fine. Previous years, you had to go through the customer service desk to get a voucher but that's stopped this year. That's what they mean by can't exchange points in store.

GertiMJN · 18/11/2019 11:37

Thanks differentcity I just didn't want be there with a trolleyful and not be able to use the points!

But definitely didn't want to change points in advance.

The fact that you can't use customer services is awful for people without smartphone etc.

I did it whilst shopping in store, just download the app and sign in before you go.

It literally took a couple of minutes and was really straightforward.

Be careful because you can only use them on certain things. I was buying Xmas Gifts so they were included and I did the voucher on the app while I was queuing to pay.

GertiMJN · 18/11/2019 11:57

Thanks Tibtab I have the list of sections. Is it obvious in store?

It’s not that obvious in store which is annoying. For some categories like toys or clothes it’s straight forward as they are all included, but I stayed clear of toiletries as I wasn’t sure what was covered.

Tibtab · 18/11/2019 12:00

Ha ha no!
Depends what you are after, the Christmas gifts are obvious but I wanted to swap £20 of points and the voucher is not refundable so I wanted to be sure that my items were covered.
What do you want to buy?

GertiMJN · 18/11/2019 12:06

I'm hoping to get a food processor but also just wanted to see what's there. It's a big superstore that I've never been to before.
I'll look for household stuff rather than gifts.
You've all been really helpful

You can do this, I did it just yesterday. Picked the bits I wanted, got the voucher with points on my app and scanned the app at the till to take the value of the voucher off my shop.

AuntieMarys · 18/11/2019 13:43

Just got £100 worth of wine

Another tip for anyone going tomorrow.

We have one account but 2 cards with different numbers but they are linked. So you can actually get £200 double up (£100 per card) if you have that many points.

If they keep the system the same next year then those without a smart phone can double up the week before and get paper vouchers in the post.

I did paper vouchers for personal reasons but found because they were against 2 different card numbers so 2 different vouchers I had to do 2 separate transactions.

So If you have got 2 cards linked on the same account you will probably have to do 2 separate transactions.

If buying alcohol anything with a purple taste the difference foil topper is included.
